Trip Overview

Upper Mustang Trek is an adventurous Trek that takes the adventure seekers to the hidden paradise of Nepal. The trek offers you the wilderness, unique landscape and takes you through the valleys of the remote trans-Himalayan area of the country. The trek takes you to the places of historical, cultural and spiritual importance. The trekking package starts with a day tour of Kathmandu- the capital city of Nepal. Following, you will drive to Pokhara and take a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom to start your actual trek. In the end, you will fly to Pokhara from Jomsom and take a subsequent flight to Kathmandu.

The area lies in the rain-shadow zone and is famous for unique alpine terrain. Caves, Monasteries, Chortens, prayer wheels, and prayer flags are the other attractions of the region. The Upper Mustang Trek offers you incredible views of various mountains that include Mount Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri. Arrival in the villages of Lo Manthang, Kagbeni, Marpha, and other settlements gives you Tibetan vibes, and the way of life of local denizens amused you. The Tibetan styled stone houses are the characters of the villages in Mustang region.

You will have basic facilities during the Upper Mustang Trek as it is a remote region trek. A trekker should have endurance and prior hiking experience as it is a demanding trek. Spring and autumn are suitable seasons to embark on this trek. There is a less chance of suffering of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) as we have practically developed the itinerary considering to provide ample time for the trekkers for acclimatization.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara (827m) – 6/7-hour drive

Day 03: Fly to Jomsom (2710m) and trek to Kagbeni (2800m) - 25 minutes flight and 2/3-hour trek

Day 04: Trek to Chele (3050m) – 6/7 hour 

Day 05: Trek to Syabochen (3740m) – 6/7 hour

Day 06: Trek to Ghami (3520m) – 6/7 hour

Day 07: Trek to Tsarang (3500m) – 6/7 hour

Day 08: Trek to Lo Manthang (3800m) – 5/6 hour

Day 09: Lo Manthang exploration and overnight at Lo Manthang (3800m)

Day 10: Trek to Dhakmar (3810m) – 6/7 hour

Day 11: Trek to Ghiling (3440m) 5/6 hour 

Day 12: Trek to Chhuksang (3040m) – 4/5 hour

Day 13: Trek to Jomsong (2710m) – 3/4 hour

Day 14: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (1400m)  

Day 15: Drive to Kathmandu and farewell dinner (1400m)

Day 16: Depart Kathmandu (1400m)

Cost Includes

Airport pick up and drop service in a private vehicle

Welcome dinner and farewell dinner.

Twin-sharing accommodation in Kathmandu (2 nights ) and Pokhara( 2 nights ) at a tourist standard hotel along with breakfast

Accommodation during the trekking in a teahouse/Lodge 

All three meals on the trek (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and tea/coffee (3 times a day)

Bus fare to Pokhara from Kathmandu

Airfare from Pokhara-Jomsom-Pokhara

Government certified English speaking trekking guide

The entire cost of the staff members involved in the trek (their salary, insurance, equipment, food, and accommodation)

Porters (one porter for every two trekkers) and his entire expenses (salary, food, accommodation equipment, and insurance)

Charges of all necessary documentation and permits related to the trek

Down jackets and sleeping bags (upon request), should be returned to the company after completion of the trek.  

Company’s duffel bag (upon request for the trek purpose only), and a company’s t-shirt as a souvenir.

The arrangement of helicopter rescue service (trekker’s travel insurance must cover this expense)

Nepal visa and International flights fare.

Dinner and Lunch in Kathmandu and Pokhara besides welcome and farewell dinner. 

Expenses for your clothing and personal gears 

Your equipment of personal nature; and other expenses such as mineral water, soft beverages, laundry, hot drinking water on the trek, bar bills, showers, internet, and charging the battery.   

Your travel insurance which covers helicopter evacuation as well as medical expenses and trip cancellation 

Tipping to the guide, porter, and drivers 

Any other costs not itemized in the "Cost Includes" are your expenses.
