Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek, also known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is one of the popular trekking destinations in Nepal. This is a shorter trekking route in comparison to the other trekking routes; however, it covers almost all the features of the region. The trekking takes you to the wilderness. The trek does not only offer you natural beauty but you will enjoy the unique mountain terrain and witness different flora and fauna. Besides, the trekkers can enjoy the hospitality of local Gurung and Magar people while witnessing their culture and tradition. This trek is a rare trekking route that offers the exceptional experience of height and lowland in a short period of time.

Short ABC Trek offers the splendid view of towering peaks such as Mount Annapurna I (8901m), Mount Annapurna II (7937m) and Mount Machapuchhre to the trekkers. The stunning view of snowcapped mountains on the backdrop of green hills takes you to the different world. Besides, you will have a unique experience of walking through Modi Khola gorge. The Annapurna region is a rare example of an ecosystem in the world. Annapurna is a home of different species of flora and fauna. If you are embarking on this trek in the spring, the blooming rhododendron woods welcome you in the region. Besides, it is a habitat of more than 100 species of wild animals including some endangered species such as Musk deer, Snow Leopard.

Apart from its natural beauty, geographical diversity, the trekking route introduces the trekker to the different groups of Nepal; mainly Gurung and Magar. They are rich in their culture and tradition. You will feel homely with their hospitality on the route.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1:  Kathmandu Arrival (1400m)

Day 2: Drive to Pokhara in a tourist bus (827)

Day 3: Pokhara to Ghandruk (1070m) through Nayapul (1070m)

Day 4: Ghandruk to Chhomrang (2210m) 

Day 5: Chhomrong to Dovan (2605m)

Day 6: Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700 m)

Day 7: Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp (4140m) and trek to Dovan (2605)

Day 8: Dovan to Jhinu Danda (1780m)

Day 9: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara (827) through Nayapul (1070m)

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu (1400m)

Day 11: Departure from Kathmandu (1400m)


Cost Includes

Airport pick up and drop service in a private vehicle

Welcome dinner and farewell dinner.

Twin-sharing accommodation in Kathmandu (3 nights) and Pokhara (2 nights) at tourist standard hotel along with breakfast

Accommodation during the trekking in a teahouse/Lodge

All three meals on the trek (breakfast, lunch, dinner), fruits after dinner and tea/coffee (3 times a day)

Tourist coach drive to and from Pokhara (air ticket or private vehicle can be arranged on the client’s behalf upon request)

Government certified English speaking trekking guide

The entire cost of the staff members involved in the trek (their salary, insurance, equipment, food, and accommodation)

Porters (one porter for every two trekkers) and his entire expenses (salary, food, accommodation equipment, and insurance)

Charges of all necessary documentation and permits that include a permit for Annapurna Conservation Area perm, Trekkers Information Management Systems (TIMS) Card 

Down jackets and sleeping bags (upon request), should be returned to the company after completion of the trek.  

Company’s duffel bag , and a company’s t-shirt as a souvenir.

Nepal visa and International flights fare.

Dinner and Lunch in Kathmandu and Pokhara besides welcome and farewell dinner. 

Expenses for your clothing and personal gears 

Your personal equipment and other expenses such as mineral water, soft beverages, laundry, hot drinking water on the trek, bar bills, showers, internet, battery chargers etc.  

Your travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation as well as medical expenses and trip cancellation 

Tipping to the guide, porter, and drivers 

Any other expenses not itemized in the "Cost Includes" are your personal expenses. 


Our representative will receive you at the Tribhuwan International Airport upon your arrival and transfer you to your hotel. We will have a brief meeting in order to talk regarding the trek on the agreed time. We will take you out for a welcome dinner tonight in a Nepali restaurant where you can also enjoy Nepali musical program.
Our guide will accompany you for the trek today onwards. You will drive to Pokhara in a tourist coach. Though, its 6/7 hour drive, you will have a chance to see the countryside in Nepal and enjoy nature. You will be taken to your respective hotel in Pokhara. After freshen up, you can explore the lively Pokhara city.
After early breakfast in the lake city of Pokhara, you will drive for about 2 hours to reach Nayapul where your actual trek begins. Soon after you kick off the trek, you will walk through a beautiful countryside and enter the Annapurna Conservation Area. You will have a sight of Machhapuchre today. After giving a push up on stony stairs you will arrive in today’s destination Ghandruk.
Soon after you resume the trek, the trail leads you uphill up to Ghandrukkot. After a brief break at the top, you prepare your leg to go downhill on a steep path having the occasional rock to a local river-Kimron Khola. You will ascend with the scene of a farm in the area after crossing the bridge. You will cross a rocky path prior to arriving today’s destination Chhomrong.
As soon as you leave Chhomrong, you will follow a properly-managed stony staircase down to a local stream-Chhomrong Khola. After crossing a suspension bridge, you will go uphill in a windy path through a beautiful Oak, Hemlock and Rhododendron forest to Sinuwa. Finally, a brief up and downhill path with lush woods lead you to today’s destination called Dovan. You can have a glimpse of Machhapuchhre from Dovan.
You will start the day with early breakfast. Soon after you leave Dovan, you will have a magnificent view of Mount Machhapuchhre. The trail leads you above Modi Khola with the bamboo forest alongside. The cascading rivulets on the route make your day. You will have a tough hill climb however you will be rewarded with beautiful scenery around. Following Lunch, you will go uphill and the path becomes stony and you feel alpine environment. You will arrive at the MBC and will have a close-up view of Mt. Machhpuchhre. Overnight at MBC.
Today, you will arrive at the destination of your trip. A two and half hour rigorous trek takes you to the Annapurna Base Camp. Of course, you will enjoy the view of many other mountains including Annapurna south (7219m) Hiuchuli (6441m) Machhapuchhre (6993m) from the base camp. After quenching your lust of mountains, you will descend to Dovan for the overnight stay.
Following breakfast, you will resume your trek down to Jhinu Danda. You will be pleased with a magnificent view while climbing down the stony staircase. You will have spectacular views of valleys and waterfalls. You will stay at Jhinu Danda today.
Today is the last day of your actual trek. The path leads you downhill to Kumnu Khola. You will pass few settlements such as Kyumi, Syauli Bazar, Bire Thati prior to arriving at Nayapul where you trek officially ends. We will transfer you to Pokhara in a private vehicle. Overnight at Pokhara.
After early breakfast, you will drive back to Kathmandu on a tourist bus. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will transfer you to your hotel. You can buy souvenirs for your friends and family members in the evening. We will take you out for farewell dinner tonight. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
This is the final day in Nepal for this time unless you want to extend your days in Nepal. Our representative will transfer you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for final departure as per your flight schedule. You will fly back home with exciting memory of mountains in Nepal.
