Mount Ama Dablam Expedition is an expedition in one of the prettiest mountains in the world. Ama Dablam means ‘mother’s necklace’. The mountain looks like a baby hanging around a mother’s neck and mother is protecting the baby. Mount Ama Dablam (6812m) remains the dominant mountain on the eastern side during the classic Everest Base Camp Trek. Mount Ama Dablam was first climbed on 13 March 1961 by a team led by New Zealander climber Mike Gill and is considered as third most popular Himalayan peak expedition in Nepal.

The expedition starts with an exciting flight to Lukla from Kathmandu- the capital city of Nepal. After that, you will trek to the base camp of Mount Ama Dablam before reaching the top of this mountain. Then, you will retrace the path to Lukla before flying back to Kathmandu.

The expedition package not only provide you with the thrilling experience of the mountain but it has a lot more to offer you. You will enjoy the unique mountain terrain, gushing river and the alpine vegetation while on the way and back to Mount Ama Dablam. Besides, you will witness the way of lives of locals as you will be crossing the adequate number of settlements during this trip. Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1400m)

Day 02 - 03: Complete administrative procedures and expedition preparation in Kathmandu (1400m)

Day 04: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2610m) – Half an hour flight and 3/4 hour trek

Day 05: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) – 5/6 hour 

Day 06: Acclimatization day Namche (3440m)

Day 07: Trek to Tengboche (3867m) – 6/7 hour

Day 08: Trek to Pangboche (3985m) – 3/4 hour

Day 09: Trek to Ama Dablam Base Camp – (4570m) 2/3 hour

Day 10 - 24: Climbing Period (Highest elevation 6812m)

Day 25: Trek back to Tengboche (3867m) – 3/4 hour 

Day 26: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) – 6/7 hour

Itinerary

Today, you will arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our representative will welcome you at the Tribhuwan International Airport soon after you exit completing custom procedures and transfer you to your hotel. We will take you for a welcome dinner tonight. Overnight at Kathmandu.
On day two and three, we will complete all the administrative procedures for the expedition. Besides, we will together prepare for the expedition as it is essential to have proper preparation for such a demanding expedition. You will spend these two nights in Kathmandu.
Today, you will have a scenic half an hour flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. At Lukla, you will meet your porters. After breakfast, you will start the trek. You will cross a few picturesque villages before arriving in today’s destination, Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.
Enjoying the gushing river and green vegetation, you will walk on a moderate path until you reach Hillary suspension bridge today. You will ascend a hard uphill through pine forest after crossing a suspension bridge to reach Namche Bazar. Overnight at Namche Bazar.
After breakfast, you will explore the places around Namche Bazar. Among other areas, it is worth visiting the local Sherpa Museum and climb up to Everest View Hotel. You will have the beautiful views of the mountains during today’s excursion. Overnight at Namche Bazar.
Today, you will resume on a moderate trail traversing a hill. After that, you will descend through pine and juniper woods. After lunch, a demanding uphill track through the forest takes you to Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for its monastery. Overnight at Tengboche.
You will have a quick descend through juniper woods, and you will continue on a flat path until a local stream-Imja Khola. After that, you will walk on a rocky dry path leaving the tree line behind. Further walk on a rough trail takes you to today’s destination, Pangboche. Overnight at Pangboche.
Today, you will reach the base camp of Mount Ama Dablam. After breakfast, you will resume your trek on a moderate trail. Its short day today so you will arrive at the base camp soon. You might see an ample number of colorful tents of the climbers at the base camp. Overnight in a tent at the base camp.
At the base camp, our experienced crew member will teach you required skills and dealing with unfavorable situations. You would spend ample acclimatization time during the climb. Of course, your determination is the important factor to accomplish your goal. Regular route to climb this mountain is South-West ridge and require to set 3 camps before you reach the top. Our well-equipped team would take all possible measures to take you to the top of this beautiful mountain.
After your successful expedition, you will retrace your path to Tengboche. You will climb down to Imja River over rocky trails and walk through a forest to arrive in today’s destination Tengboche. Overnight at Tengboche.
As you leave Tengboche prayer flags at the local monastery bid farewell to you. You will descend over a path full of boulders. After that, a moderate path after an hour leads you to an upward trajectory through a forest. An easy route at the last portion of the today’s trek takes you to Namche Bazar. Overnight at Namche Bazar.
You will retrace the path to Lukla today. Though you are familiar with the route, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the gushing river and green vegetation on the route. Moreover, you will witness the local way of life on the way back to Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
You will fly back to Kathmandu thanking Khumbu region for offering such an adventurous experience to you. You will have a glimpse of mountains, hills, and villages while on board. We will transfer you to your hotel from the airport in Kathmandu. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Today, you have a free day in Kathmandu-the capital city of Nepal. It’s up to you whether you explore the places in Kathmandu or take rest the whole day. We will take you for a farewell dinner tonight. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Today you will wrap up your Nepal trip for this time. Our representative will transfer you to the Tribhuwan International Airport for your final departure. You will fly back to your home country with the thrilling experience of Ama Dablam expedition.
