Day 05: Namche Bazaar- Acclimatization Day

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche (3867m) - 4/5 hour

Itinerary

Today you will arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our representative, whom you will see with your name card, will receive and escort you to a hotel. After freshen up, one of our staffs will meet you for the trip briefing so that you will have an idea about the entire trip. We will take you to a typical Nepalese restaurant for welcome dinner. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Today, you will have a guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. You will visit the major tourist hubs with historical and cultural importance. Few of them are listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites. After you return from the day tour, you will have time for the trip preparation. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Today, you will fly to Lukla where the trek begins. You will meet your porters at Lukla. After breakfast, you will start the trek on a moderate trail. You will pass by the herds of mules and Dzo (crossbreed of ox/cow and yak/nak) on the route. With the introductory terrain of Khumbu region, you will arrive in today’s destination, Phakding.

After breakfast, you will resume the trek today. You will continue walking on a dusty switchback trail while enjoying the pristine gushing river and woods. Today, you will pass numerous alluring suspension bridges with prayer flags. A steep path through a pine woods takes you to lively Namche Bazar. Overnight at Namche Bazar.

Today is the first acclimatization day of this trip. As a part of acclimatization, you will explore the local tourist attractions including a Sherpa Museum today. A steep climb through shrubs takes you to the Hotel Everest View. You will have stunning mountain vistas during today’s hiking. You will descend to Namche Bazar for the overnight stay.

Today, you resume your trek to Tengboche from Namche Bazar. You will transverse a hill on a moderate trail which leads you to a downward path through juniper woods. After crossing a few habitats, you will reach the lunch place. After that, a steep path with boulders through a woods leads you to Tengboche where you halt for the day.

As you leave Tengboche, the prayer flags at the famous Dingboche Monastery bid farewell to you. You will have a short descend through a forest and will have an easy walk to Imja Khola- a local stream. You will have a stunning view of Mt Ama Dablam during today’s trek. You will pass a few settlements such as Pangboche, Somare before arriving in Dingboche.

Today is another acclimatization of the trek. After breakfast, you can ascend a ridge that starts right near your hotel. During today’s hike, you will have the jaw-dropping view of Mount Ama Dablam including others. You can stroll the Dingboche village in the afternoon to have an insight into local life. Overnight at Dingboche.

As you resume the trek, a quick ascend leads you to a wide flat trail. You will have a leisurely walk on a wide path until arriving at Thukla. Then, a demanding steep path leads you to Thukla Pass. This point offers a stunning view of mountains and emerald hills. A further walk on a trail with boulders alongside Khumbu glacier leads you to Lobuche.

Today is an important day as you will reach the base camp of the world tallest mountain. Mostly, you will walk on a rocky path passing through Gorekshep today. After spending some time at the base camp, you retrace the route to Gorekshep where you stay overnight.

In the dawn, you will have a demanding hike to Kalapatthar-the popular viewpoint in the Everest region. Kalapatthar offers splendid views of the sunrise over the mountains including Mount Everest, Mount Cho Oyu. After spending some time at this point, you will descend to Gorekshep. Then you will retrace the path to Lobuche for the overnight stay.

Soon after you resume the trek today, you will cross the Khumbu glacier and walk uphill until you arrive at Kongma La Pass. The pass offers stunning views of and alpine terrain. You will descend to Chhukung village from the Pass. Overnight at Chhukung.

You will trek on a steep path to the southern direction from Chhukung. Today, you will walk on a glacial moraine. After that, you will have a pleasant walk alongside a local stream to a wide valley and cross Imja and Lhotse glacier before arriving at the Base Camp. You will have a tented camp at the base camp.

Today, our guide will teach you basic climbing skills and using climbing gears such as ice axe, harness, crampons. After the training, you can explore high camp or the nearby area to acclimatize yourself with the altitude. Overnight in a tent at the base camp.

Today is an important day as you are standing atop of Island Peak. It would be best if you started early in the morning to arrive at the top before noon to avoid the strong wind. Soon after you begin ascending you will have a steep climb over a hill which leads you to a sandy path. Then you will walk on a track with the boulder. After that, a narrow path leads you to a steep rock channel and you will arrive at the High Camp. After that, you will walk on the rocky steps that lead you to the snout of the summit glacier. Our guide will fix ropes for easy ascend as there are few crevasses on the way to the summit. You can spend some time at the top, take the photo, videos and descend to the base camp. Overnight in a tented camp.

Today, you will retrace the path to Pangboche from Island Peak Base Camp. Today, you will cross few hamlets walking on a moderate trail to reach Pangboche. You will have a spectacular view of Mount Ama Dablam from Pangboche. Overnight at Pancboche.

You will resume the trek after breakfast today. After a short descend you will cross Imja Khola- a local stream before entering to a tree line. You will walk on an uphill and downhill path while passing through alpine woods and few settlements on the route today. You will be happy to arrive in lively Namche Bazar for the overnight stay.

Soon after you resume your trek, you will have a steep descend to a Hillary suspension bridge. Further, hike on a switchback path with many suspension bridges while enjoying the green vegetation and gushing river leads you to today’s destination Lukla- the end point of the trek.

Today, you will bid adieu to the Everest region and fly back to Kathmandu. You will have a birds-eye view of the emerald hills and hilly settlements while on board. The guide will transfer you to the respective hotel from the airport. Tonight, we will take you for a farewell dinner.

Today is the final day of your Nepal trip. We will transfer you to the airport for your international departure. You will fly back with thrilling memories Island Peak climbing.
