The Ghorepani Jomsom Trek is listed as one of the most adventurous treks in the Annapurna region. The Ghorepani Jomsom Trek takes you to Poon Hill to view the majestic mountain peaks of the Annapurna ranges (8,091m), the Dhaulagiri Peak (8,167m), the Machhapuchhre Himal (6,993m) and many more. On the latter part of the trek, you head to the stunning Mustang District to visit Muktinath, Kagbeni, and Jomsom. You’ll get the opportunity to visit traditional Sherpa and Gurung settlements on the trek.
Your glorious journey starts from Pokhara from where you drive to Tikhedhunga, which is the starting point of the trek. You then trek to Ulleri and spend the night there. Next day, you head to Ghorepani via Nangethanti. The trail is pleasant and most of them go through rhododendron forests. Furthermore, you head to Poon Hill the next morning to view the beautiful sunrise and views of Himalayas.
You get to view the Annapurna Range, the Dhaulagiri ranges, the Nilgiri Peak, the Machhapuchhre Himal, the Hiunchuli Peak and many more from the top of Poon Hill. After watching the views, you trek back to Ghorepani and head to Tatopani. Ghasa is the next destination on this journey. You begin trekking along the Kali Gandaki River on the route beyond the deepest gorge.
The Himalayas gives you constant company throughout the trek as you head to Ghasa. Next, you trek towards Marpha and explore the Thakali village. Your exploration of lower Mustang starts from Marpha that leads you to Kagbeni, Muktinath and Jomsom. You trek to Kagbeni from Marpha and then head to Muktinath Temple. You visit the temple and then descend to Jomsom via Lubra village. Lastly, you’ll return to Pokhara where your journey ends. Autumn and spring are the favorable seasons to do this trek as you can view the Himalayas clearly and the rhododendrons make your route beautiful.
