Trip Overview

You will pass through lush forest, valleys, gorge, and glacier; and of course, the gigantic mountains will be in close to you during the trek. The trekking offers you the views Dhaulagiri massif that extends to a wide range of Nepalese Himalayas. Dhaulagiri I is the seventh highest peak in the world. Besides the mountain, you will pass through famous passes such as French Pass (5360m) and Dhampus Pass (5234m). You will be amused to see the simple lifestyle of the people in the region as you will be passing through many hamlets such as Babiachour, Dobang, Muri during the trek.

Anybody with good physical fitness and having prior trekking experience can go for this trek. Your willpower is an essential factor to accomplish your goal as you will really be away from the modern facilities. The trek starts from Beni- the administrative headquarter of Myagdi district and ends at renowned Manang district. Subsequently, you will fly to Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu. Dhaulagiri is a remote region trek, so the food and accommodation are very basic throughout trek. Moreover, you should stay under the tent for a few days as there are no proper tea houses in all the place you halt.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01 – Kathmandu Arrival (1400m)

Day 02 – Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation.

Day 03 - Drive to Beni (850m) – 8/9 hour 

Day 04 - Trek to Babiachor (950m) – 4/5 hour

Day 05 - Trek to Dharapani (1400m) 5/6 hour  

Day 06 - Trek to Muri (1850m) – 4/5 hour

Day 07 - Trek to Boghara (2080m) – 5/6 hour

Day 08 - Trek to Dobhan (2520m) – 4/5 hour 

Day 09 - Trek to Choriban Khola (3110m) – 4/5 hour

Day 10 - Trek to the Italian Base Camp (3660m) – 6/7 hour

Day 11 - Acclimatization and rest day.  

Day 12 - Trek to the Glacier Camp (4210m) – 5/6 hour

Day 13 - Trek to the Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4740m) – 6/7 hour

Day 14 - Another acclimatization and rest day at Dhaulagir Base Camp (4740m)

Day 15 - Cross the French Pass (5,360m), then trek to the Hidden Valley (5,200m) – 5/6 hour 

Day 16 - Cross Dhampus Pass (5200m), and trek to Yak Kharka (3680m) – 5/6 hour

Day 17 - Trek to Jomsom (2710m) – 4/5 hour

Day 18 - Morning flight to Pokhara - Sightseeing around Pokhara

Day 19 - Drive back to Kathmandu (1345m)

Day 20 - Final departure

Accommodation during the trekking in a teahouse/Lodge and also in a tent as its remote region trek and teahouses are not available in all the places of the trekking route

You will arrive in Kathmandu today. We will receive you at the airport and transfer you to a hotel. After you freshen up, our representative will meet and explain you about the trek and assist you in making the necessary preparation. We will take you to a Nepali restaurant for welcome dinner tonight. Overnight at Kathmandu.

We will take you for a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu today. Kathmandu is like an open museum; you will be delighted to visit the old monuments that are listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites. You will also have an insight of local people and their way of life. Overnight at Kathmandu.

You will have a pleasant drive to Beni through lush green vegetation and alongside a river. You will be stopped for food and refreshments on the way. You will also witness the lifestyle of locals alongside the road. Overnight at Beni.

Following breakfast, you will start the trek today and head to the northern direction alongside Myagdi River. You will enjoy crossing suspension bridges and pass through villages such as Simalchaur, Singa and Tatopani. Further few hours walk takes you to today’s destination, Babiachaour.

Today, you will have a walk through the picturesque terraced green farm field and woods. You will cross a few settlements such as Dukkhola, Ratorunga and will through a narrow valley before arriving in today’s destination, Dharapani. Overnight at Dharapani.

As you resume the trek, you will cross a river and continue walking uphill. You will have lovely mountain views including Mount Dhaulagiri and Gurja Himal on the route. You will keep walking on uphill track through green forest and terraced farm field and arrive at Muri where you stop for the day. Muri is dominated by people belong to Magar ethnicity, and you will have a glimpse of their culture.

Today, you will resume your trek on a leisurely downhill path to Phedi. After passing through a place called Naura, you will reach a narrow path cling on the left side of a river. Your careful move ahead takes you to the other side of the narrow valley. After a brief walk, you will arrive in Boghara. You will have a view of Gustung South on the route today. Overnight at Boghara.

Today, you will walk downhill as you resume the trek. The ups and downs path examine your endurance almost all day today. In the afternoon, you will walk through the dense forest with little views. The last portion of the uphill path takes you to Dobhan.

You will resume your trek today after crossing a suspension bridge. Then, you will ascend through a dense woods, and will be rewarded with a view of Mt. Dhaulagiri I. Then, you will descend to a place called Chartare. A path through a forest gives way to a rocky trail ahead. A brief walk onward takes you to today’s destination, Choriban Khola.

Today it is going to be a pleasant day as you will observe the mountains from proximity. Also, you will have an experience of walking on glacial debris. While enjoying the crests such as Tukuche, northern face of Dhaulagiri, you will arrive at the Italian Base Camp. The place, where you stay, is a fantastic viewpoint. Overnight at Italian Base Camp.

You will stay at Italian Base Camp for acclimatization purpose today. It might be worth climbing up to a grassy land. You will enjoy the landscape and mountain views around. Overnight at Italian Base Camp.

Today, you will walk through a narrow ravine, and you should move ahead carefully as the area is prone to stone fall. Also, you will transverse the glacial moraine, walk through grassy land. You will enjoy dry alpine hills, during today’s journey. Overnight at Glacier Base Camp.

As you begin, you will ascend to a moraine today. After about an hour walk, you will have a view of Tukuche. You will walk further on a moraine and a valley. You will descend on a small hill and walk across the flat basin to arrive at Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

It’s a good idea to spend a day at Dhaulagiri Base Camp for acclimatization purpose. You can go uphill up to Tukuche Valley. From there, you can have a view of the northern face of Mount Dhaulagiri. It’s better to enjoying the sights rather than walking much. Overnight at Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Today, you will climb on a small hill initially, and continue walking on a glacial moraine. You will have a strenuous walk today to arrive at French Pass. The Pass offers majestic views of Sita Chuchura (6611m), Mukut Himal (6328m) including others. After that, you will descend along a ridge of the Hidden Valley. After crossing Thapa Pass, you will camp today at the altitude of 5200 m.

Today, you will head towards Dhampus Pass, and a moderate ascend takes you there. After that, you will continue climbing down to Yak Kharka. Yak Kharka has a lot to offer to you such as mesmerizing mountains views, pastures, and fields. Stay overnight at Yak Kharka.

From Yak Kharka, you will have a steep descent and enter the tree line. After a few hours of walk, you will reach the bottom of the valley and arrive in Marpha. Marpha is an end of Dhaulagiri circuit, and the path conjoins to Annapurna circuit trek. After that, you will walk up the valley to arrive Jomsom. Overnight at Jomsom.

Today, you will have a pleasant flight to the famous tourist hub Pokhara from Jomsom. We will transfer you to a hotel in Pokhara. After taking a rest for a while, you can explore this beautiful city and go for boating in Phewa Lake. Overnight at Pokhara.

You will drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara today. During today’s journey, you will enjoy flowing rivers and green vegetation. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will transfer you to your respective hotel. Tonight, we will take you out for a farewell dinner.

Today you are going to wrap up your Nepal trip for this time. We will transfer you to Tribhuwan International Airport for final departure as per your departure schedule. You will fly back to your homeland with beautiful memories of the remote region of Nepal.
